A couple of months ago, I wrote about HubSpot Chief Technology Officer and founder Dharmesh Shah's Mass High Tech All-Stars award win in the social media category. Last Thursday evening, with the support of five attending HubSpotters, Dharmesh accepted his award at the Mass High Tech All-Stars Awards Ceremony at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel.
Mass High Tech recognized 15 All-Stars, or individuals who have made a significant impact in the New England Innovation economy.
For an interesting twist, award winners were asked to keep their acceptance speeches to 140 characters, Twitter-style. Honorees who wished to exceed the 140-character limit were asked to pay $1 per character over the limit, to be donated to the Boston chapter of nonprofit Girls in Tech, which promotes the mentoring of girls interested in a career in tech by successful women in the field.
According to the Mass High Tech article summarizing the event:
"Perhaps the biggest cheer went up after Dharmesh Shah from HubSpot, Inc. after his 140 characters had been used up, said, 'The reason I am going on and on is we need to invest in things like Girls in Tech and produce more Gail Goodmans.'"
