HubSpot is pleased to share that Yuri Akahira has been appointed General Manager of our soon-to-be opened Japan office, effective immediately.

HubSpot products have been available in Yuri_Photo2.jpgJapan through resellers since 2012. In that time our business has expanded steadily globally and in Japan, the world's third-largest market, as has our network of local partners selling HubSpot's marketing and sales solutions.
Having Yuri join the team reflects our growing Japan presence and represents a new phase in HubSpot's business development in the market.

Yuri will be responsible for setting up our new office in Tokyo this summer to provide more effective support to customers and partners on the ground, and to further expand HubSpot's footprint in the important Japanese market.

Of Yuri’s hire, Brian Halligan, HubSpot's Co-founder and CEO, said, "Coinciding with HubSpot’s 10th anniversary, Yuri's appointment is a big step forward in our Asia strategy. Japan has always been very important for HubSpot. It’s a highly sophisticated market, one that’s seeing great changes in marketing and sales. Having launched and successfully managed the local office of a multinational company in Japan myself, I am confident she has the skills needed to take HubSpot and the inbound methodology to new heights in the market."

Prior to joining HubSpot, Yuri served as Representative Director and Managing Director of Meltwater Group Japan, the local office she helped establish in 2008. A graduate of the University of Oregon with degrees in sociology and international development, she is also active in community activities supporting diversity for women in Japan's workplaces.

"I am looking forward to the opportunity of establishing HubSpot's first direct presence in Japan. HubSpot has already made significant inroads in this market thanks to our strong reseller network,” said Yuri. “Now, I am confident we can take our sales and marketing solutions to the next level by further strengthening our capabilities on the ground."
