We are pleased to announce that Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE have honored HubSpot as a top 10 Best Workplace for Millennials in 2019. These rankings were determined using the feedback of over 4.5 million employees across all Great Place to Work-Certified organizations. We want to thank and congratulate our employees around the world for their transparency and honesty in the feedback they provide to help us continue to grow and adapt our culture, and make HubSpot a great place to work for all generations.

NAMED A GREAT PLACE TO WORK FOR MILLENNIALS IN 2019

Employees were asked to give feedback on categories such as the extent to which they trust their organization’s leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions, and how much camaraderie there is among the team. Rankings are based on employees’ feedback and reward companies who best include all employees, no matter who they are or what they do for the organization. HubSpot is committed to cultivating a diverse environment and fostering a culture of flexibility and transparency where employees have a voice, and we’re incredibly proud our employees have recognized us with this remarkable accolade.

Our efforts to create a company culture of transparency means that we strive to openly share both the good and bad with our employees. We encourage effective communication, listening, and clear and quality feedback in the workplace. These practices go a long way in creating a positive and open dialogue that allows all employees to speak up and have a voice in both the culture of the workplace, and decisions of the company. We believe that no matter what level you’re at in your career, the background you come from, or the department you work on, every employee has the power to help HubSpot grow better by sharing their opinions, ideas and feedback in a psychologically safe environment.

At HubSpot, we are dedicated to building a culture where employees can do their best work. Feedback, research, and our own employees show that the number one way to do that is by being flexible. Flexibility is also shown to be a highly valued workplace attribute for millennial workers. In efforts to increase workplace flexibility at HubSpot, we offer unlimited vacation days, up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave, and remote work options and flex hours for all employees. An employee from our Cambridge office elaborated on how HubSpot’s flexibility has impacted their work-life balance in an anonymous review left on Glassdoor.

“Being a working parent, this is one of the several difference makers in my day to day. If I need to leave early or come in late, no one ever questions it. This comes from setting a standard of trust within all HubSpot employees. It's expected that you dedicate yourself to working hard and when you need to handle life as we all do, there are no issues at all.”

We know that giving our employees the freedom and flexibility to create their own work-life balance builds trust in our company. That’s why flexibility is at the core of our benefits and culture, from family planning to financial planning and beyond.

HubSpot also has a variety of programs and initiatives in place to help create and maintain a diverse and inclusive workplace environment, allowing us to gain feedback from people who think differently and have a unique perspective on any given situation or challenge. Because as HubSpot’s Director of Customer Success in APAC explains:

“Diversity isn’t just about physical appearances or how someone looks. It’s how they think, how they act, how they were brought up. It’s the ability to challenge the status quo and think outside the box, to have a different perspective and opinion than the person next to you. That’s why I like people who are different. I like taking risks on individuals who may not check all the boxes, but bring a unique perspective to the table. The world around us is constantly changing, no matter what industry you work in. And having people who can think differently and adapt quickly to that change allows you to solve problems faster and constantly stay one step ahead of the competition.”

We offer a variety of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to support our employees' wide range of identities and experiences. Our ERGs include Women at HubSpot, ParentSpot, People of Color at HubSpot and the LBGTQ+ Alliance. This past month, our Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging programming included the Women Who Lead event series spearheaded by Ashley Jeffress, as well as LGBTQ+ based panels and programming led by Melissa Obleada in honor of Pride month.

Finally, A 2017 Capital Group’s study found that 82% of millennial workers find it important that their employers invest in the health and wellness of employees. Our Healthy@HubSpot initiative is designed to help employees live healthier at work and beyond through programming, benefits, facilities, content, and nutritious snack options. In addition to fitness reimbursements, HubSpot offers nutrition consultations and workshops on mindfulness, stress management, and more, as well as an on-site gym facility where workout classes ranging from tabata to yoga are taught by both outside trainers and trained HubSpotters. Our newest Healthy@HubSpot addition is an employee smoothie bar located in the atrium of our Davenport building.

We strive to create a work environment that encourages and supports the growth of all of our employees across all generations. We know that the impact of our efforts is strengthened by the thoughtful and valuable feedback provided by our employees. As we continue to improve and grow better as a company, we’re extremely grateful for this ranking from Great Place to Work, and humbled to work with people who speak up to share the ways we can continue to improve and grow as an organization.
