Today, the Boston Business Journal announced its annual Best Place to Work list, and we’re thrilled to share that HubSpot has been named the #1 Best Place to Work in Massachusetts.

This recognition is based on HubSpot employee feedback collected from an employee engagement survey powered by Quantum Workplace. Thank you, HubSpotters, for your feedback and for making our company a great place to work! While we continue to strive every day to better our company culture, the Boston Business Journal’s recognition is a strong testament that we’re on the right path in creating an environment where employees can bring their whole selves to work, as well as learn and grow while maintaining their ideal work/life balance.BBJ Awards Blog Photo

Of the award, HubSpot Co-founder and CTO, Dharmesh Shah, said:

"Our mission at HubSpot is to help millions of organizations grow better by improving their marketing, sales and customer service. It’s an ambitious mission that requires intelligent, creative, passionate people that are committed to our customers’ success. In order for our team to do the best for our customers -- we have to do our best for them. That's why we care deeply and commit strongly to creating an inclusive, remarkable culture where employees can do their best work. At HubSpot, employees have purpose -- and the autonomy to do what they feel is best for our customers.  We invest in helping them learn and grow. The key to attracting amazing people is to surround them with other amazing people. Being a Boston Business Journal Best Place to Work is truly humbling and I'd like to thank our employees, because they're the ones who make HubSpot's culture great."

Employees today are motivated by mission, not money. That’s why our mission of growth extends beyond HubSpot’s customers to our employees. Autonomy, transparency, and flexibility are at the core of our company’s culture, and we openly share why these pillars are so important to our mission in The HubSpot Culture Code (which has over 3 million views on SlideShare).

Having the freedom to diversify thinking with fresh ideas and the ability to work where and when they want allows HubSpot’s employees to have ultimate ownership over both their schedules and the work they do, supporting their growth both professionally and personally in whatever way works best for them.

We’ve seen the positive effects that flexibility has on employee engagement and in making HubSpot a top place to work. We don’t track time off and have an unlimited vacation ‘policy’ employees use for traveling, working from home, or leaving early to pick kids up from school. One slide in the HubSpot Culture Code states that “Results matter more than the hours we work,” therefore, we trust our employees to get their work done without having to tell them when or where to do it. The way that people live and work is changing, and our culture is constantly changing with it.

As our culture changes, we’re constantly striving to find new ways to encourage our employees to bring their whole selves to work and help us create a workplace of inclusion and diversity. Our employee resource groups (ERGs) including Women@HubSpot, ParentSpot, the LGBTQ+ Alliance, and POCaH (People of Color at HubSpot) help our employees find friends, allies, empowerment, and guidance, as well as support from mentors to learn best practices for navigating their own career paths. All HubSpotters are invited to join any of the ERGs to help foster a community of support while learning and growing alongside their colleagues.

One HubSpot review from the anonymous employee review site, Glassdoor, states: I'm surrounded all day by brilliant, thoughtful, and ambitious people. Collaboration and ideas from the very bottom of the chain are not only accepted but highly encouraged - I've always felt like HubSpot genuinely values my ideas and seeks them. Every day I am challenged to learn new skills and continue growing with the company.

HubSpot’s culture wouldn’t be what it is today without the passion and HEART of our employees. HEART stands for the five core values we live and work by at HubSpot, which are: Humble, Empathetic, Adaptable, Remarkable, and Transparent. We are thankful to be surrounded by employees who make HubSpot a great place to work every day, so thank you for the work you do and the culture you’ve created to make HubSpot a top place to work.
